Teen Power! by Joe Sayers

$8.00

For our first book (or rather, non-planner type book), we wanted something special and we’re pretty happy with the results! We have been selling Joe Sayers’ self-published mini-comis for a couple of years now and they never fail to make us laugh, especially Passing Periods and Absolute Power. So imagine our glee when Joe agreed to put them out with us in this nice softcover collection with a brand new title and original cover art. Passing Periods deals with the trials and tribulations of being a teenager while Absolute Power does the same for super (or not so super) heroes. Thus Teen Power!.

All the comics in Teen Power! were drawn in 5 minutes or less and that speaks volumes as to Joe’s comic genius. She has this uncanny ability to put the perfect, slightly bent twist to the most simple of even one-panel comics. Passing Periods was featured in the Best American Non-Required Reading 2005 with Dave Eggers saying, “It was one of the funniest things we’d ever seen we thought.” We heartily agree!

Teen Power! is printed on 100% post-consumer recycled paper with soy-based inks by our friends at 1984 Printing in Oakland, CA. The book measures 4.25” x7” with a 2-color cover and blue ink interior with a total of 76 pages.

Joey lives in Oakland and has a weekly strip called “Thingpart” that runs in several weeklies like the Portland Mercury and her work has also appeared in MAD Magazine, SF Bay Guardian, and the Field Guide to the US Economy.
